Abstract

Earthwork cut and fill represents a crucial preliminary phase in construction, where the selection of appropriate methods and heavy equipment plays a significant role in ensuring time and cost efficiency. This study investigates the productivity performance of SY-75C and XE-75GA excavators during cut and fill operations on the Tampaksiring Nexa Resort construction project, Gianyar, Bali. The research methodology combined field observations and structured interviews to collect primary data, including soil characteristics, weather conditions, and terrain, alongside secondary data comprising equipment specifications and project reports. The execution was conducted using a relay method, wherein the SY-75C excavator carried out cutting activities and temporarily deposited the excavated material, after which the XE-75GA excavator transported the material to the designated fill area. Productivity analysis was performed based on bucket capacity, cycle time, and job factors encompassing equipment condition, terrain, weather, operator performance, material properties, and management aspects. The findings reveal that the SY-75C excavator achieved a productivity rate of 20.953 m³/hour with a total cut and fill duration of approximately 413.095 hours (±53 days). Meanwhile, the XE-75GA excavator recorded a productivity rate of 18.416 m³/hour with a hauling duration of approximately 469.721 hours (±59 days). These results highlight the significant influence of equipment type and operational methods on overall earthwork efficiency.
