Abstract

The construction sector faces a high risk of work accidents, primarily due to low compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use. This study aims to analyze worker behavior toward PPE usage and its effect on accident rates and productivity at the RSUD Bali Mandara Training Building Project. A descriptive quantitative method with a correlational approach was used. Data were collected through 31 days of field observation, questionnaires from 19 respondents, and project documentation. Results showed a PPE compliance rate of 70.30% (good category), with vests being the most used (97–99%) and masks the least (0.9–8%). Human error was the dominant cause of accidents (59%), followed by working conditions (22%) and the environment (19%). Questionnaire results indicated that PPE positively affects comfort, work quality, and speed. Correlation analysis revealed a significant relationship between PPE compliance, lower accident rates, and increased productivity. This study highlights the importance of continuous supervision and training to foster a safe and productive work culture.
