Abstract

The erection stage of steel structures is a critical phase in construction projects, particularly for large-scale developments such as the Plant 4 Factory Construction Project of PT Suryaraya Rubberindo Industries. This study aims to analyze and compare the time and cost efficiency between two mobile crane utilization methods: using a single mobile crane and using two mobile cranes simultaneously. The research adopts a descriptive quantitative approach through field observations, interviews, and calculations of equipment productivity and operational costs. The findings indicate that the single mobile crane method requires a total duration of 175.25 hours with an operational cost of IDR 372.000.000. In contrast, the two-crane method only requires 88.66 hours with an operational cost of IDR 339,000,000. Although the two-crane method presents a higher coordination risk, it is proven to be more efficient in terms of both time and cost. Therefore, the two-crane method is recommended as the most optimal erection approach for this project, provided that strict and structured safety risk management is implemented.
