Abstract

Infrastructure and high-rise building development in Indonesia continues to increase in line with societal needs and technological progress. In such construction projects, every work item is interconnected, with foundation work being one of the most critical elements. The foundation serves to receive and transfer building loads directly into the soil. This study aims to compare the suitability of pile foundations and bored pile foundations for application in the area surrounding Poltekkes Kemenkes Denpasar.

The research was conducted through direct field observations, interviews, and the collection of secondary data from project documents. The analysis results indicate that environmental impacts such as vibration, air quality, noise, and traffic disruption are more significant with pile foundations compared to the relatively minimal impacts of bored pile foundations. The cost analysis for 169 foundation points shows that pile foundations require Rp. 1,959,250,000.00, whereas bored pile foundations require Rp. 1,260,600,000.00. These findings demonstrate that bored pile foundations are more economical in terms of cost compared to pile foundations. Overall, the use of bored pile foundations is considered more effective and efficient than pile foundations, particularly when viewed from environmental conditions and cost, making them more suitable for implementation in densely populated areas.
