Abstract

In recent years, the construction of multi-story buildings has become a practical solution to address the decreasing availability of land amid the increasing demand for buildings. In such developments, the structural system plays a crucial role as the primary load-bearing component that ensures the stability and integrity of the building. Structural planning must consider key criteria that serve as benchmarks for construction feasibility, including serviceability, structural efficiency, construction method selection, and cost. In the Hilton Garden Inn Extension project, a change was implemented in the ground floor structural method—from a Tie Beam on Slab on Grade (SOG) system to a Suspended Tie Beam system. This study involves structural strength analysis using SAP2000 software, along with a cost evaluation following the change in structural method. A descriptive-quantitative approach was used. The analysis revealed that the existing column design was inadequate, prompting dimensional revisions, and highlighted overstress in the shear reinforcement of beams. The structural cost evaluation showed a 0.6% increase (Rp. 73,089,143.88) due to the column dimension adjustments required to address overstress conditions.
