Abstract

The surge of tourists in Bali has led to the development of sustainable tourism facilities that have an impact on improving the local economy. The demand for sand is increasing rapidly due to the construction of hotels, villas, and infrastructure, so its availability needs to be supported by adequate facilities, such as excavator heavy equipment. The purpose of this study was to determine the productivity of excavator equipment in sand mining at CV Dewata Jaya Material, Bebandem, Karangasem; determine the feasibility of the investment; and calculate the break-even point (BEP) of the investment. This research uses a quantitative descriptive method with direct observation to the field. Primary data includes tool cycle time, interest rates, material prices, wages, as well as field conditions, tools, materials, and labor. Secondary data includes implementation methods and machine specifications. The analysis showed that the productivity of the excavator was 84.36 m³/hour. The investment was declared feasible with NPV of Rp12,701,006,671.30, BCR of 1.882, PBP in the first year of Rp1,131,020,717.02, and IRR of 30.6%. The break-even point was reached in year 1. Sensitivity analysis shows the investment is not feasible if: (1) costs increase, benefits remain and IRR > 99.2%; (2) costs remain, benefits decrease and IRR > 35.9%; (3) costs increase, benefits decrease and IRR > 32.0%.
