This is important to research because there is a tendency for the use of code switching and mixing to be increasingly found in bilingualism. The subjects in this research were lecturers at the Bali State Polytechnic, while the selected samples were lecturers at the PNB Accounting Department. The data source used is analysis of recorded documents. This research uses the observation method, while the data collection method uses proficient free-involved listening techniques, recording techniques, and note-taking techniques. The results obtained from this research are in the form of internal code switching: (1) code switching from Indonesian to Balinese (2) code switching from Balinese to Indonesian. Forms of external code switching were found: (1) code switching from Indonesian to a foreign language (English) (2) code switching from Indonesian to a foreign language (Sanskrit). The results of this research show that the use of code switching and code mixing in official meetings such as meetings still includes foreign languages, especially English. It can be concluded that there is more speech in code mixing department meetings than code switching, due to the lack of background factors and different topics.
I Nyoman Mandia, I Nyoman Sukra, Putu Dyah Hudiananingsih Copyright (c) 2024 Prosiding Seminar Nasional Riset Bahasa dan Pengajaran Bahasa https://ojs2.pnb.ac.id/index.php/SENARILIP/article/view/2203 Sat, 19 Oct 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Analysis of the Linguistic Landscape of Signboards in Japan (A Semiotic Study) https://ojs2.pnb.ac.id/index.php/SENARILIP/article/view/2204
Language is a marker of social changes occurring in society. The research is interdisciplinary due to various language presence issues that interact with the language of others in public spaces. Other than issues, there is beautification function on sign board as a communication tool. Thus, the question for the discussion is how beautification function is work on store sign board? The method used is qualitative research. Instilling local wisdom is an important way for students to love culture. Qualitative method with case study approach was used to examine the causes of certain social aspects. The data collection techniques include observation, interview, and documentation. The data were analyzed using interaction analysis consisting of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of the research show that, first, local wisdom is instilled in the learning process of Indonesian language general courses so that lecturers only develop their own learning related to regional culture through public speaking. Local wisdom is mostly instilled in activities outside the learning process. Second, students practice the local wisdom values well, including ethics, aesthetics, religion, and social.
Dewi Suprihatin, Safuri Musa, Slamet Triyadi Copyright (c) 2024 Prosiding Seminar Nasional Riset Bahasa dan Pengajaran Bahasa https://ojs2.pnb.ac.id/index.php/SENARILIP/article/view/2205 Sat, 19 Oct 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Pengajaran Bahasa Inggris dengan Media Drama Tari https://ojs2.pnb.ac.id/index.php/SENARILIP/article/view/2206
Dance drama can be used as a medium for teaching English in the world of education. This study aims to examine how the application of green ethic in WhatsApp (WA) language is carried out by students of the Denpasar Poltekkes Polytechnic and the Bali State Polytechnic. The method carried out in data collection is the observation method, with a free participate observation technique and a documentation method. This study investigates students’ perceptions of integrating generative AI in their English-speaking performance, focusing on the perceived benefits, challenges, and overall impact on language learning experiences. Employing a qualitative approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 30 undergraduate EFL students from an International Business Management program. Thematic analysis revealed several key findings: students reported enhanced speaking practice opportunities, improvements in fluency and vocabulary, and personalized feedback as primary benefits of AI integration. However, challenges in replicating authentic communication and concerns about the reliability of AI-generated feedback were also identified. The study highlights the importance of a balanced approach that combines AI-assisted learning with traditional pedagogical methods, emphasizing the continued relevance of human interaction in language education. While generative AI showed a positive impact on student motivation and engagement, ethical implications and the potential for over-reliance on AI tools necessitate careful consideration in implementation. These findings contribute to the growing body of knowledge on technology-enhanced language learning and provide valuable insights for educators and researchers exploring innovative approaches to improving EFL students’ speaking skills. Humanities learning that requires new innovations in learning activities is due to the lack of students' ability to process learning media which then makes it difficult for students to maximize their learning methods. Therefore, the author decided to conduct research on the implementation of memes as an innovative learning medium, especially for Generation Z and Alpha. This study uses a qualitative method with the participants of this study being 8th grade students of Bali Kiddy Junior High School for the 2023/2024 academic year with a total of 26 participants. Data was obtained through questionnaires as research instruments. In addition, the author wants to get a different point of view through the educator’s point of view, therefore the author interviews 3 educators and then the results of the answers of both parties will be processed by the author. Based on the results of the questionnaire as an initial research step, it was known that most of the participants in this study did not agree if memes were implemented in the classroom, because participants considered memes to be just a joke and were not sure if memes could be implemented in the classroom. However, from the educator’s point of view, memes are considered to only be used in certain learning such as humanities lessons.
