Salah satu fenomena kebahasaan yang berkembang pesat di era globalisasi adalah multibahasa, yaitu penggunaan lebih dari satu bahasa dalam aktivitas komunikasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan fenomena multibahasa di dunia global serta mengkaji dampak sosial yang ditimbulkan akibat penggunaan beberapa bahasa. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa kajian pustaka, simak bebas libat cakap, dan teknik catat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan multibahasa memberikan dampak sosial yang beragam, baik positif maupun negatif. Artikel ini menelaah fonetik dan fonologi bahasa Bali sebagai salah satu bahasa daerah di Indonesia yang hingga kini masih dipertahankan di tengah arus globalisasi. Penelitian difokuskan pada klasifikasi bunyi vokal, diftong, dan konsonan bahasa Bali serta keterkaitannya dengan aspek sosial-budaya masyarakat penuturnya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan observasi alami terhadap tuturan keluarga dan masyarakat Bali, disertai refleksi diri peneliti sebagai bagian dari pengalaman langsung dalam penggunaan bahasa. Analisis fonetik dilakukan untuk memahami aspek fisik produksi bunyi, sementara analisis fonologi digunakan untuk melihat fungsi bunyi dalam membedakan makna dan keteraturannya dalam sistem bahasa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bahasa Bali memiliki inventaris vokal yang cukup kaya, yaitu terdiri dari 12 vokal dengan distribusi yang fleksibel pada posisi awal, tengah, dan akhir kata. Keberadaan vokal [e] dan [ɛ], misalnya, berperan penting dalam membedakan makna leksikal. Selain itu, ditemukan pula diftong yang terbagi menjadi tiga diftong naik dan delapan diftong turun. Diftong ini tidak hanya memperkaya struktur suku kata, tetapi juga memberikan variasi prosodi dalam tuturan seharihari. Sistem konsonan bahasa Bali berjumlah sekitar 20 fonem, dengan sebaran di hampir semua titik artikulasi, seperti bilabial, alveolar, palatal, velar, hingga laringal. Konsonan seperti [ɲ] dan [ŋ] menandai ciri khas Austronesia, sedangkan bunyi seperti [f], [v], [z], dan [ʃ] relatif jarang muncul, menunjukkan keterbatasan serapan dalam kosakata dasar. Distribusi vokal, diftong, dan konsonan tersebut menunjukkan keteraturan fonologis yang kuat sekaligus berfungsi sebagai pembeda makna dalam bahasa Bali. Lebih jauh, penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa sistem bunyi bahasa Bali tidak dapat dilepaskan dari konteks sosial dan budaya masyarakat penuturnya. Kehadiran tingkatan bahasa (alus, madya, kasar) menunjukkan bahwa pilihan bunyi dalam kosakata tidak hanya bersifat linguistik, melainkan juga sarat dengan makna sosial, etika, serta hierarki dalam komunikasi. Fenomena ini memperlihatkan bahwa bahasa Bali bukan hanya sistem fonologis yang kompleks, tetapi juga instrumen budaya yang menjaga nilai sopan santun dan identitas kolektif masyarakat Bali. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa kekayaan fonetik dan fonologis bahasa Bali menjadi bukti vitalitasnya sebagai bahasa daerah yang masih hidup dan berkembang. Keberagaman bunyi tidak hanya memperkaya sistem linguistik, tetapi juga memperkokoh kedudukan bahasa Bali sebagai warisan budaya yang harus dilestarikan. Analisis difokuskan pada relasi antara domain sumber dan domain sasaran untuk menjelaskan bagaimana pengalaman emosional dipahami serta diungkapkan melalui bahasa metaforis. Metode yang diterapkan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan mengacu pada teori metafora konseptual Lakoff dan Johnson. Data berupa penggalan lirik dipilih dan dianalisis untuk mengidentifikasi metafora struktural, ontologis, dan orientasional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metafora seperti cinta sebagai rasa, rasa sakit sebagai beban fisik, dan perpisahan sebagai kematian mendominasi lirik lagu tersebut. The qualitative research method was applied in this study. After discovering the data, the researcher found that there are three types of translation shifts that are found in the Soul by Disney movie. The types of shifts found are level shift, structure and intra-system shift as shown in 9 data. The level shift shows 2 data. A level shift happens when an SL (source language) item has an equivalent in a TL (target language) translation at various language levels, such as grammatical or lexical. The structure shift shows a total of 3 data. Structure shift refers to changes in the grammatical patterns of linguistic items in the source language as they are translated into the target language. It is the shifting of modifiers and head words in the translation. The intra-system shift shows a total of 4 data. When plural linguistic items in the source language are translated into single items in the destination language, intrasystem shift occurs, or vice versa. Data penelitian yang digunakan adalah transkrip lirik lagu dari movie video yang di upload pada kanal YouTube. Lirik lagu dianalisis menggunakan analisis wacana kritis model Teun A. van Dijk. Lagu Inochi ni Kirawareteiru menggambarkan tema-tema kompleks tentang kehidupan, kematian, dan eksistensi manusia. Melalui lirik yang mendalam dan reflektif, lagu ini mengeksplorasi perasaan putus asa, nihilisme, dan konflik batin yang dialami oleh seorang individu. Analisis elemen retoris seperti ironi, hiperbola, paradoks, metafora, simile, repetisi, dan antitesis mengungkapkan cara lagu ini menyampaikan kontras antara harapan dan kenyataan, serta kritik sosial terhadap sikap apatis dan kebencian. Aspek kognisi sosial yang diungkapkan dalam lagu mencakup persepsi sosial, sikap dan nilai, identitas sosial, empati, konflik internal, pengaruh sosial, dan persepsi diri. Struktur sintaksis yang kompleks digunakan untuk mengomunikasikan pemikiran mendalam tentang kehidupan dan kematian, melalui penggunaan kalimat majemuk, klausa subordinat, dan pernyataan imperatif. The perception of bilingualism within themselves affects their behavior and motivation in fostering bilingual classrooms. This study aimed to explore the perceptions of preservice teachers towards bilingualism and how these perceptions influence their aspirations, teaching strategies, and professional goals. This study implemented a qualitative research design, involving six purposively chosen participants from second-year English Education Department students. Data were collected through an online Focus Group Discussion (FGD), allowing participants to share insights on their experiences, beliefs, and aspirations regarding bilingualism. The findings revealed diverse perceptions of bilingualism, highlighting its practical benefits in professional and personal contexts, such as improving communication skills, gaining social recognition, and enhancing career opportunities. Participants emphasized the role of bilingualism in increasing self-value and the need to balance the use of English and Bahasa Indonesia in teaching. Strategies such as translation, storytelling, and situational adaptation were identified as key approaches to bilingual instruction. Additionally, participants’ career aspirations varied, with some viewing international schools as opportunities for growth, while others prioritized readiness before taking on such challenges. Employing a descriptive-qualitative research design, the data analysis utilizes Partridge’s (2012) theory to identify the Thematic Progression Patterns. The findings reveal three distinct patterns: Constant Theme, Linear Theme, and Split Rheme. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan strategi desain buku saku Bahasa Indonesia menggunakan empat keterampilan berbahasa (menyimak, berbicara, membaca, menulis) untuk Darmasiswa. Buku saku ini dikembangkan dengan teknologi QR Code dalam mengakses materi audio dan video. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, yaitu menggambarkan mengenai proses integrasi empat keterampilan berbahasa dalam perancangan buku saku dengan teknik pengumpulan data wawancara, observasi, studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa integrasi keempat keterampilan berbahasa dalam buku saku memberikan kontribusi positif terhadap efektivitas belajar Darmasiswa karena mereka dapat menerapkan keempat keterampilan dalam satu buku yang berisikan mengenai Bahasa Indonesia, seni, dan budaya. Penggunaan analogi dapat ditemukan dalam berbagai situasi komunikasi, baik nonformal maupun formal, termasuk dalam konteks rapat akademik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji penggunaan analogi bahasa oleh penutur dalam membangun komunikasi efektif pada rapat Unit Penunjang Akademik Bahasa Politeknik Negeri Bali. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan menganalisis tuturan yang mengandung analogi selama rapat berlangsung. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi, pencatatan, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa analogi yang digunakan penutur didominasi oleh analogi deklaratif, yaitu analogi yang berfungsi menjelaskan suatu konsep dengan membandingkannya pada hal yang telah dikenal. The authentic materials included promotional brochures, social media content, marketing emails, and video advertisements which all used within the professional context of hospitality communication. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving 27 hospitality students. The findings reveal that the use of authentic materials enhances student engagement and supports the development of both verbal and nonverbal communication skills. Challenges included the complexity of promotional language and limited practice time. Students expressed a desire for more hands-on experiences with real-world communication tasks. The research employs a qualitative design with a case study approach, utilizing in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis as primary data collection instruments. The findings reveal that despite their crucial role as markers of ethnic identity and social cohesion , regional languages in Medan face significant pressure from globalization and urbanization. Factors such as the dominance of Indonesian in formal education and media , coupled with high social and economic mobility , contribute to a notable linguistic shift among the younger generation. While youth generally acknowledge the importance of local languages, their active use remains low, often due to a perceived lack of prestige or relevance in modern urban contexts. Various preservation efforts by government bodies and local communities are underway, succeeding in raising awareness and fostering pride. However, these initiatives face challenges in consistently increasing active daily use and sustained youth engagement. Akan tetapi, dalam praktiknya masih banyak ditemukan masalah, salah satunya adalah pembentukan kata. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis kesalahan umum pembentukan kata yang merupakan penelitian deskriptif-kualitatif dengan data primer yang didapat langsung dari sumber data. Data dikumpulkan dengan metode simak yang dibantu dengan teknik catat. Selanjutnya, data dianalisis dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif berdasarkan paradigma induktif, yaitu paradigma dari khusus ke umum dan metode agih. Hasil penelitian disajikan dengan metode formal dan informal. Penelitian ini berpijak pada Teori Linguistik Umum (Morfologi) dengan konsep dasar pembentukan kata. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan banyaknya ditemukan pembentukan kata yang tidak sesuai dengan kaidahnya. Misalnya, kata merubah, mensukseskan, mentargetkan, mengenyampingkan, dan menunjukan. Kata-kata tersebut bukan kata yang benar dari segi pembentukan. In vocational education, particularly for engineering students, the authenticity of learning materials and tasks is crucial in bridging classroom instruction with real-world professional communication. While existing studies have examined authenticity broadly in ESP, limited research has focused on students' lived experiences within technical vocational settings at the secondary level. This study investigates the perceptions of authenticity among Grade 12 engineering students in an ESP course at a private vocational high school in Indonesia. Employing an explanatory sequential mixed-method design, quantitative data were first collected via an online questionnaire administered to 259 students across various engineering majors. Subsequently, qualitative insights were obtained through semi-structured interviews with five students representing different engineering disciplines. The quantitative data were analysed using descriptive statistics and the Level of Respondent Achievement (LRA), while qualitative data were interpreted through Miles, Huberman, and Saldana’s (2014) analytical framework encompassing data condensation, display, and conclusion drawing. Findings revealed an average LRA of 71.4%, suggesting a moderate perception of authenticity. However, qualitative analysis surfaced significant gaps, including minimal integration of workplace-relevant content, lack of alignment between classroom tasks and professional practices, and absence of authentic assessment strategies. These findings underscore a misalignment between pedagogical design and students' future professional realities. This study contributes to the growing discourse on authenticity in ESP by emphasizing the need for contextualized material development and outcome-based curriculum design tailored to specific vocational fields. They are used to carry out speech acts, such as direct speech acts and indirect speech acts, through language. They need the use of certain words and phrases which have meanings and messages to achieve the certain purposes in the language communication. Famous quotes can be utilized to improve the motivation because they have influential and valuable meanings and messages inside. Therefore, the managers of AMIK JTC Semarang employed them in the form of posters to share the positive mindset and attitude for the students in achieving the goals and dreams. The purposes of this study were to analyse and find out the roles of famous quotes toward the students’ studying motivation based on the perceptions of managers of AMIK JTC Semarang perceptions by using face to face interview. The method used in this study was qualitative descriptive by using thematic analysis from Braun and Clarke (2006) and Apthorp (2021). Collecting and managing managers’ interview data, coding, seeking, reviewing and defining the themes, representing, accounting, narrating and reporting the final data were the processes to find out the roles of famous quotes and whether they could give studying motivation to the students or not based on the perceptions of managers. In conclusion, according to the final analysis of AMIK JTC Semarang managers’ perceptions, there were nine roles of famous quotes in improving students’ studying motivation. However, empirical evidence regarding their combined effectiveness in enhancing speaking abilities remains limited, particularly in accounting contexts. This study examined the impact of integrating application-based English for Accounting materials with cooperative learning methods on students' English speaking abilities. A quasi-experimental design was employed with 60 second-semester accounting students at Politeknik Negeri Bali, randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The experimental group received instruction combining mobile application materials with cooperative learning structures, while the control group followed conventional teaching methods. Pre-test and post-test measurements assessed speaking abilities using validated rubrics covering six components of oral proficiency. Results revealed statistically significant differences between groups, with the experimental group demonstrating substantially higher improvement in speaking abilities. The experimental group achieved a mean gain score of 14.64 points compared to 5.16 points in the control group. Statistical analysis using independent samples t-test confirmed significant differences (t = 12.456, p < 0.001) with a large effect size. This study investigated the impact of implementing Task-Based Learning integrated with peer-evaluation through YouTube platform on students' English speaking abilities. A quasi-experimental design was employed with 60 second-semester students selected from a population of 180 students in English for Business course at Politeknik Negeri Bali, comprising two intact classes randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The experimental group (n=30) received instruction combining Task-Based Learning activities with structured peer-evaluation through YouTube video submissions, while the control group (n=30) followed conventional teaching methods. Pre-test and post-test measurements assessed speaking abilities using validated rubrics covering six components of oral proficiency. Independent samples t-tests revealed statistically significant differences between groups, with the experimental group demonstrating substantially higher improvement in speaking abilities. The experimental group achieved a mean gain score of 15.2 points compared to 5.8 points in the control group. Statistical analysis confirmed significant differences (t = 14.23, p < 0.001) with a very large effect size (Cohen's d = 3.42). Data Source of this study is The Fault in Our Stars novel, it was written by John Green and published on January 10,2012. The collected data in this study were analyzed by using some following theories related to the syntactic field. First, the types of simple sentences are categorized through the theory proposed by Greenbaum and Nelson (2002). Second, constituent structure of the sentence was discussed by Brown and Miller (1991). In addition, the sentence structure was constructed into a tree diagram based on Fabb’s theory (1994). The method of data collection in this study was library research. Then, data analysis were two steps, namely Categorizing all selected data by using Greenbaum and Nelson’s theory (2002) to categorize the types of simple sentence pattern, and analyzing the constituent structure of simple sentence found in the novel entitled The Fault in Our Stars by using tree diagram based on Brown and Miller (1991) and combined with Fabb’s theory (1994). This study used formal and informal method by Sudaryanto (1993) in presenting the result.
