Abstract

The community service program was implemented to address service quality challenges at Eskol Bali Spa in Kerobokan, Bali. The main issues identified were the lack of housekeeping standards in oil residue cleaning, limited knowledge of herbal drink using local ingredients, and insufficient English communication skills, especially in Upselling spa products or services and complaint handling. The objectives of this program were to enhance staff competencies in housekeeping hygiene, herbal beverage production, and English communication for customer service aligning with wellness tourism goals. The community service employed a participatory approach four phases through socialization, training, technological assistance, and evaluation. The resuls showed significant improvements: 1) Compliance with SOP increase by 86%, the ability to remove oil residue improved by 56%, cleaning time eficiency improved by 47% faster and keept the cleaneliness quality, also knowledge of cleaning equipment and chemicals rose by 67%. 2) In herbal drink inovation, employees knowledge increased by 63% in equipment use, 76% in understanding local ingredients such as ginger, tumeric, lemon grass, 64% in recognizing and able explaining the health benefits of herbal drinks, and 68% in product quality. 3) English communication skills for spa services improved significantly, with handlung complaints increased by 27,9% and upselling performance by 49,5%. This findings showed improvement employees’ technical on housekeeping skills, herbal drinks, linguistic as well as cultural competencies, which leads to higher service quality and customer satisfaction. The program concludes that integrated capacity building in wellness-based enterprises can foster sustainable tourism practices. It is recommended that  similar training modules be developed as standard references and shared to other small spa businesses to enhance Bali’s wellness tourism competitiveness.
